Since 1993, First Choice Tree Nursery has been dedicated to the growing of quality prairie hardy trees and shrubs. The Nursery situated on 160 acres of prime agricultural land originally farmed by John & Olga Cheradarchuk, current owner Ron Cherdarchuk’s partners began as a small operation dealing mainly as a wholesaler.

From 1993-1996 First Choice was an active grower for the Alberta Shelterbelt program, which provided reasonable cost shelterbelt stock to farmers across the province. When the operation privatized, Ron & Debbie made the decision to continue with the nursery, moving into the retail business and never looking back.

From a modest set up the nursery has grown tremendously and within the last 3 years has expanded to stock perennials, unique annuals and outdoor garden décor and furniture. On October 16th 2007, Santa’s Treasures, a year round Christmas store opened to rave excitement. Christmas, an undeniable love and passion of the Cherdarchuk family, is a little unexpected gem hidden in the peacefulness of the country.
